Summit finish: Alta Peak’s summit.
A Sequoia summit with a long climb from Wolverton into high Sierra scenery. NPS describes the outing as 12.8 miles with more than 4,000 feet of climbing. This rating assumes a snow-free hiking route; consult the park’s trail updates when planning. Allow a full day for the sustained ascent and return.
Build a full-day plan with enough food, water, and daylight for the descent.
