The approach: Ellis Peak Trail from Barker Pass Road

Summit finish: Ellis Peak’s summit.

A West Shore summit with a rocky approach and a different perspective across Tahoe. Use the signed Ellis Peak trailhead, which is separate from nearby Tahoe Rim Trail parking. The trail steward describes moderate-to-hard terrain and allows dirt bikes, so expect mixed use. Check seasonal Barker Pass Road access and your route map before setting out.

Stay aware of other trail users and save energy for the rocky return.
