The approach: Dog Lake parking approach and Lembert Dome spur
Summit finish: Lembert Dome’s granite summit.
A granite crown above Tuolumne, where careful footwork is part of the adventure. NPS describes a combined Dog Lake and Lembert Dome outing of 3.8 miles with 850 feet of gain from Dog Lake parking. Finish on the dome using the hiking approach, not the steep climbing face. Check Tioga Road access and avoid exposed granite during thunderstorms.
Discuss the granite finish with the group and turn back if conditions or comfort change.
