Meet the mountain

The approach: Little Si Trail from the Little Si trailhead

Summit finish: Little Si’s summit.

A compact North Bend summit with forest, rocky terrain, and views toward larger Cascade goals. WTA lists 3.7 miles round trip and 1,300 feet of gain, with steeper sections at the beginning and finish. Little Si is a separate peak from Mount Si, with a summit story of its own.

Pace the steeper sections and check DNR access and pass requirements.

The small mountain’s résumé

Little Si applied for a job as a very large mountain. Its résumé listed “excellent views” and “surprisingly persuasive uphill.” The hiring panel asked about height. Little Si asked about attitude.
