The approach: Peak Trail from Ohlone College

Summit finish: Mission Peak’s summit.

A recognizable local summit that can become a favorite with friends. East Bay Parks recommends the Ohlone College approach, which is longer and gentler than the congested Stanford Avenue route. The open slopes make heat and water planning important. Confirm the entrance hours and college parking arrangements for your chosen day.

Set a pace that works for the whole group on the sustained climb.

The uphill assignment

A hill was given a simple mission: make everyone say “nearly there” at least twice. It exceeded expectations. Its annual review described it as alarmingly motivated.
