Summit finish: Mount Hood’s summit ridge/top.
A dramatic Cascade summit with a steep upper mountain. The South Side approach from Timberline can use different upper variations, including Pearly Gates or Old Chute, depending on conditions. Steep snow or ice, crevasses, rockfall, and cornices make this a technical climb. Check climbing and ski-area uphill requirements when planning.
