Meet the mountain
The approach: Watchman Trail from Watchman Overlook on West Rim Drive
Summit finish: The summit lookout, above the roadside overlook.
A compact Crater Lake summit with a historic fire lookout as the destination. NPS lists 1.6 miles round trip and 420 feet of gain. This is a high-elevation walk despite its short length. Check seasonal road and trail conditions before planning the approach.
Enjoy a short summit day while allowing for altitude and changing weather.
